Sahaj Homeschool 2021 for 5 years old - Academic

Disclaimer:  I am not a teacher but merely a full-time working mom.  If you would like to share this page, please credit to this blog.  Thanks!

Oops, I forgot a post this Monday.  Here in Malaysia, some of us started going back to office and kids back to school.  I have yet to send my little girl yet as I am still not comfortable with the numbers of Covid cases.

Reading Eggs

While looking for a good website for academic resources last year, when we were all in locked down and I was feeling exhausted from the so-called online classes done by the kindergarten, I stumbled upon this program called, "Reading Eggs".

This is not a sponsored post and I am not paid by them.

Reading Eggs is an Australian program that focus on reading and Maths.  It is an interactive program that in a website and also an app.

What I really love about this program is how my little girl enjoy it so much and has improved immensely from just learning alphabets to reading story books now.

This is not a free program.  They have a 30 days free trial and I was so thrilled with the results that I immediately paid for a year's subscription after the trial ended.

The teaching style is in the form of a game, passing each levels as she progresses.  There are 3 programs in there.  English, Maths and Phonics.

In the website, you also get free worksheets which are revision of what they have learned in the app.

The program is so colourful and attractive that any child would enjoy to use it.  It's easy, user-friendly and convenient.

It also emails me a report when my little girl completed a level.  It gives me an update of what my girl has been doing, learning and what she needs to work on.

It has quizzes and fun games that kept on enticing my little girl.  Like she needs to earn her eggs in order to play some games or to decorate her house she needs eggs to buy the things for it..  And in order to earn the eggs, she needs to complete each level.

I also found out that some kindergarten uses this program as part of their Online teaching.

The down side of this program is it doesn't focus so much in writing (because they can't write in a website right).  That you have to do with the worksheets provided.  Also, sometimes the website or the app would hanged but that doesn't happen all the time.  I feel the depth of the material is enough to counter all the cons.  And another down side is you have to control the screen time of your child, which I will write in a separate post.

Khan Academy Kids

While searching for a free educational app, I came upon this app called "Khan Academy Kids".  It is entirely FREE with no ads.  This is a US program created by this guy who wanted all kids to have free education.

It's also interactive but not in the game style.  My little girl sometimes like to play with this app too.  It covers more subjects than Reading Eggs.  Includes science and teaching about emotions.

The con of this app is it doesn't follow a structured syllable.  And it doesn't gives me a report of what my girl has been learning.  I feel it also switches too suddenly, from English to Science and suddenly to Maths.  You can't choose what to learn.  You just have to go with the flow.

Play to Learn Virtual Preschool

Found this on YouTube, this channel has 30 mins each video to share from Nursery Rhymes to stories.  My little girl is hooked as the lady who presented the video is very good with children.  This is probably more suitable for younger kids.

Unfortunately, they don't have a wide variety of videos.  But it's good enough if you are just starting homeschooling.

There are many good YouTube channels and videos to do homeschooling.  If you know more, please do share with me.   These are my top 3 go-to for homeschooling our girl.

There are also many not good websites or YouTube channels that are only there for money with lots of advertising and no free trial.  I wanted so much to look for an app or a program that teaches Mandarin and Malay, somewhat like Reading Eggs, but I couldn't find any.

Enjoy!

Matka pot treatment - Night 1

I started the matka pot treatment last night.  Been feeling a lot of left agnya catch lately, so thought that it is high time to do a matka pot treatment.  Here is what we need: 7 limes (I heard in Belgium, they used 7 lemons, so the pot that they used is so big and they have a hard time trying to dispose the pot after the 7 nights).  Cut the top of the limes to expose a bit of the flesh. 7 chillies.  Remove the top of the chillies (I don't know what you call, stem or stalk).  I used small chillies so that they can fit into the matka pot. 1 matka pot (here in Malaysia we used claypot that they cooked claypot rice, glazed inside so that it will not leak) Vibrated water So, you put everything into the pot and vibrate in front of Shri Mataji's photo.  Pray that the matka pot will absorb all the catches and negativities.  Then place it on the left side of the bed.  I put it under the bed but you can also put it on a side table on ...

Information for pregnant Sahaja Yoginis

I have decided to gather all information for pregnant Sahaja Yoginis here.  This is probably not conclusive, so please feel free to add on if you have anymore inputs.  To read more about it, please go to amruta.org.   I guess the experience varies from individual to individual.  But I was very sensitive to vibrations and negativity when I was in my first trimester.  So much so that sometimes I have to do 2-3 times footsoak in a row in order to feel better.  But it gets better in the second trimester. As for havan, I was told that pregnant ladies can attend havan but have to sit far from the fire and don't sit too long.  This was advice by the Vashi doctors.  But my own experience, in which I attended one havan, I didn't feel good after that.  It's just my personal feelings about it as I was ultra-sensitive.  But I read some yoginis wrote that pregnant ladies should not attend havan altogether.  So, it really depends.  I ...

Sahaja Yogis Do's and Don'ts

The other day, while browsing through Amruta.org, I'd found this gem.  Sharing with you all.   Disclaimer:  As I only took out parts of the talk, please do read the entire text to get the full message and understanding or better still, listen or watch the video. Advice by Shri Mataji at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (Question and Answers). Bombay (India), 22 March 1977 1. No smoking and drinking First and foremost things that a Sahaja Yogi cannot smoke or drink. One absolutely one hundred percent sure, because if you drink or smoke you will find after some time you either you’ll lose your vibrations or you’ll start vomiting. You cannot smoke. If you smoke your Vishudhdhi will be caught. If you drink your Nabhi chakra will be caught and whenever you’ll place your hand towards the photograph all the Nabhi chakra will be burning absolutely. So you’ll say, “What is this happening?” And you’ll give up. You sort of, many people have done it without any difficulty. They ...
