Change in lifestyle

I was having some aches and pains and was googling to find out what is wrong with me because I was too lazy to go to the doctor.  Turns out, most of the websites I went diagnosed me with stress.

As I read further, I found out that most of these so-called diseases are incurable.  Medication can only control the symptoms but not eliminate it entirely.  And most website recommends a change in lifestyle.

I blogged about GERD.  Most doctors gave me antacid to stop the heart burn and the uncomfortable feeling in the stomach.  Antacid doesn't taste nice and it leaves a bad aftertaste in the mouth.  And it only helped to control the symptoms but doesn't prevent the acid from coming up in the future.

Thereafter, I read up on a few more diseases, i.e Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Cirrhosis, Hemorrhoids, Diabetes,  Fatty Liver etc, etc.  If you read about them, you will find the best method to heal from it, is to change your lifestyle, well, except Diabetes because once you get it, it will be too late.

Now it makes me think, all these diseases came about because of poor eating habits, bad habits and lifestyles.  Think about it.

Plantar faciistis happens because we wear flat shoes.  So, if you are careful, and not torture yourself with too lousy flat shoes, then you won't get this.  Simple right?

GERD happens because we eat the wrong food.  Deep fried, junk food, oily food are all bad food for GERD.  So, what do we do?  Eat more vegetables, less oil, less fried, less chilli, less processed food, then you will be fine.

Hemorrhoids is something that most doctors still can't explain why it can happen.  They can tell you that you do something and then it might causes hemorrhoids, but no one know why such things can happen.  Again, no cure for hemorrhoids except medication to control the swelling or in my case, surgery.

As we are becoming more and more modern society, we are indulging ourselves more and more into all these bad lifestyle and habits and in return destroying our health and environment.

So here's some quick tips for a change in lifestyle (which I am trying to implement as well):

1. Quit smoking.

2. Quit drinking.  Yes, I heard that wine is good for the heart, but you know what, it is very bad for your liver.  So if your liver doesn't function, so does your heart.

3. Wear natural materials, like cotton and silk and avoid any cloth that contains the word 'poly'.  This doesn't help to improve your health, but if you are a Sahaja Yogi and can feel vibrations, natural materials helps the vibrations flow.  Anyway, plastic clothing are so hot and when you sweat, some odours are released.

4. Eat a balanced diet incorporating all the necessary nutrients.  Avoid fast food, junk food, processed food, deep fried food, oily food, etc.  Talking about processed food, it is becoming a trend that many people are opting for organic food, which is good, but expensive.  I didn't know so many food are processed and it's so difficult to find unprocessed food, food that you can eat in its natural form.   I didn't know bread, cakes and cornflakes are considered processed food as well, since they are not in their original nature when you eat them.  There's a whole list of processed food, like some milk powder which added this and that, nuggets, sausages, can food, etc, etc.  So what is unprocessed food?  Meat (not those in the cans), vegetables, fruits, beans, seafood, i.e food that haven't gone through some process to make it into something 'better' and highly fortified.

5. Sleep and wake up early.

6.  Exercise.

7.  Recycle.  Reduce the use of plastics.  It doesn't directly help in the health department.  But it helps the environment.  And if it helps the environment, we can have better place to live and less stress and more natural products.

8.  De-stress.  This is a modern times illness.  You hear this everywhere, everyday.  If the doctor can't tell what you are having, they will say it's stress.  But you can de-stress by thoughtless awareness meditation.

The list can go on and on.  If you read properly, don't you feel it's like going back to ancient times before the invention of cigarettes or wine, before machines were created to process food, before plastic was created?

Now with this modernisation, plastics are filing up everywhere, hurting our environment and just like Shri Mataji said in 1989, it's happening more and more now.

People are becoming more stress because of ourselves.  But good thing is, many people are realising this and seeking nature to de-stress.  So, stop destroying nature.

But in order to get back to ancient times, we have to pay higher prices for it.  Say organic food.  Super expensive.  And all these beautiful natural resorts which are created by man for people to de-stress and relax.  The charges are exorbitant.

I suppose if people start realising now, it's not too late to save our environment.  All we have to do is change our lifestyle.

Environment

The state of our planet or Mother Earth is very precarious. On one side we see signs of great destruction at the hands of human beings and which are therefore our own creation. The potent idea of destruction is at work, is in human beings, but it creates destruction on the outside. This destructiveness is not necessarily very good, but blind and uncontrollable. It is this blindness and ignorance that has to be enlightened. According to the ancient Puranas of India it is precisely these dark days of Kali Yuga or modern times that are the times for en masse self realization or the age of enlightenment. ...

A pressing problem is that of the environment. The very existence of human beings is now being threatened. People have now become aware of the damage that has been done to the environment and of the depletion of the ozone layer. Why do we still have acid rain? Why do we have often disastrous climatic problems around the world? We have to find the answers to these problems. It is an extraordinary thing that in the developed world you cannot now be confident of getting proper food to eat. Every day there is a new scare about salmonella or a new product is put onto the banned food list. So, now food poisoning has become a very serious issue. What does that indicate? We have to know that this is the extreme of industrial development, by which we have become slaves of machines. Machines are created for our own use and yet we have become the victims of machines. We have to change the balance between machine-made and man-made things and take more to natural things. Machines create things like plastics, which have no natural vibrations and which are actually injurious to human beings. But, how to achieve this, is the problem. How to reduce the consumption of such useless things, like plastic, in our daily life? ...

It is people who make society and it is the society that preserves the country. So all these crazy things that come from this sort of freedom have to be brought round and cured or these countries will be ruined in no time. In my mind there is only one solution, that is, the transformation of human beings. Now this transformation is possible here and now and on a mass scale. I would like to show you on another occasion how it can be done and how to work out the emancipation of human beings, spontaneously and effectively and without paying a penny for it. Let me show you one day, how through Sahaja Yoga you can transform yourself and change the world.
